Spring/Summer 2010 Trends

It might still be cold enough for coats and scarves, but the fashion pack has moved onto spring! We’ve taken a look at four of the biggest beauty trends for Spring/Summer 2010 – and asked Debra Robson-Lawrence how Semi-Permanent Make-up can keep us one step ahead in the style stakes!

Ice Cream Pastels

If your pout isn’t painted in a pretty pastel shade this season, it is seriously under-dressed. Take your inspiration from designers including Costume National, Derek Lam and Diane Von Furstenberg who swathed lips in good-enough-to-eat shades of ice-cream pastels – from sugar-pinks to the palest creamy-peaches.
It’s a look loved by Hollywood starlets, including Jennifer Lopez, Anna Kendrick, and Vera Farmiga, whose lips were painted pastel-perfect for Oscars night.

Debra Robson-Lawrence recommends: “Our Tender Tint Lip Wash is perfect if you want to brighten or slightly alter the natural tone of your lips. For this trend, I would opt for a mixture between Sugar and Bare, which would create a pretty, sherbet pink.”

Strong Eyebrows

Whether the make-up was soft or dramatic, there was one trend that reigned supreme over the Spring/Summer catwalks – the ‘Power Brow’. Strong, defined eyebrows were celebrated by a whole host of designers, including Alberta Ferretti, Chloe, and Vera Wang. On the celebrity circuit, big names like Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Connelly, and Anne Hathaway are already working the trend.

Debra Robson-Lawrence explains: “With Semi-Permanent Make-up, we can create a slightly darker brow with more depth, which is still in line with current trends but that doesn’t drown out the features. It’s an excellent way of updating your look and will awaken the face and bring the eyes to life, giving you that extra bit of sparkle!”

Purple

Take a nod from the catwalk and fill your make-up bag with vibrant shades of purple, mauve, and plum. Models at Versace’s show fluttered pretty purple-lined eyes, with a dusting of soft amethyst shadow across their eyelids. The trend has already been worn by celebrities including Sophie Ellis Bexter and Rihanna.

Debra Robson-Lawrence recommends: “For this trend, we would use the Glamoureyes treatment, which defines and flatters the eyes. The perfect colour would be ‘Allure’ – a stunning blue/violet shade that instantly makes the eyes look brighter and sexier!

Big Eyelashes

Long eyelashes have been ‘in vogue’ for a while, but this season the trend has taken a softer and prettier turn. Forget jazzy colours and feather-trims – this spring and summer, lashes need to appear long, lustrous, but beautifully natural. On the red carpet, it’s a look pulled off perfectly by Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, and Catherine Zeta Jones.

The models at Miu Miu Christian Dior, and Valentino all boasted a fabulously full flutter. If you aren’t blessed with such a full set, Debra Robson-Lawrence suggests: “Opt for our Secret Liner® treatment. We define the eyes by pushing pigment colour up and underneath the roots of your top lashes and gently along the lower, creating invisible definition, opening up your eyes and making lashes look ultra luscious!”
